SIGN ERROR 404: Not Found

This piece plays with the visual language of glitches to reflect the ongoing disruption faced by Deaf people. The handshape is bold and present, but surrounded by static and noise, symbolising how society often tries to erase or disrupt our presence.

The title SIGN ERROR 404: Not Found speaks to the feeling of being excluded or overlooked. Auslan, Deaf culture, even handshapes like the middle finger in this artwork, are misunderstood or intentionally removed. But for us, these handshapes are part of daily communication. They are part of who we are.

This work marks a turning point in my practice. It explores disruption not as a problem but as a tool to reclaim space, challenge systems, and say clearly we exist and we are not going anywhere.
